This project renovates approximately 14,000 square feet of the mundane mid-century ROTC building into modern workspaces for the Design & Construction and Facilities Management Departments. The renovation plans highlighted new workspace types and products for demonstration to other departments on campus, expressing the University’s values of collaboration and openness.
The building reconfiguration, which includes the structural removal of load-bearing concrete block wall corridors, proposed open plan layouts to accommodate the new space and furniture standards of the University. Primary project goals are: improved space utilization and adjacencies; increased collaboration within the Design & Construction department; and improvement of the overall aesthetic quality of the space. Further scope included Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing system upgrades, along with Audiovisual and Information Technology (IT) improvements to tie into campus infrastructure.
